2,500 Sets of BPI Data RepairedJanuary 21, 2000 -- Alliance Computer Services recently repaired its 2,500th set of BPI Accounting data. "It is very satisfying to solve a customer's critical data problem in a way that exceeds their expectations," says Shannon Tucker of Alliance. "We are doing more and more data repair work with PC Anywhere and the internet. That's great, because it allows us to fix their data problem so quickly, turning around the job in just a few hours. And it doesn't matter if they are next door or 1000 miles away. We have provided same-day data repair services to BPI users in Germany, Alaska, and Puerto Rico." "PC Anywhere is particularly nice. The customer just has to run the software to get their computer ready to receive a call, and we take it from there: log on, get their data, fix it, test the correction, install it back on their computer. Really easy and fast from the user's point of view. Of course, folks can still send their data to us on a backup." "People are surprised at our success rate. The truth is, of the more than 2,500 sets of damaged BPI data that we have seen since 1988, we've been able to help all but maybe 10 or 15 folks. Those hopeless few cases have been where the only copy of the data was on a backup tape or disk set that had severe media problems, or where somebody deleted a company or files and then tried to undelete it. That doesn't work too well." "One thing that sets us apart is the rigorous testing we do on the data before we send a correction back to the customer. We always make a copy of the data, verify the company, post transactions to it, age it, and close the period in the G/L and all the subledgers." "As a result, we have very few cases of follow-up problems. That's good for our customers, and good for business."
